GamePad rocks to success
Tuesday, September 2nd, 2003
GamePad, WhizzBang TV's 'intelligent gaming' show, is doing its bit to bring video game enlightenment to the masses. The 3rd series has dramatically out-performed its predecessors, with some airings wooing more viewers than any other TV channel - including all the terrestrials and Sky 1. Already the most popular daytime show on the Bravo channel, GamePad has steadily increased its audience, reaching over 3.1 million unique individuals in the 3rd series.
Unsurprisingly, a fourth series has been commissioned for the same timeslot - due to be broadcast daily from 17th November 2003.
GamePad provides a balanced insight into the world of video games, with reviews, previews, features, reports, charts, trivia and crash courses on every element of interactive entertainment and video game culture. Furnishing viewers with the accurate and unbiased information they need to make up their own mind about the games they see, the programme's broad scope appeals to the casual button-basher without alienating hard-core gamers.
David Clarke, Commissioning Editor of Bravo, commented; 'GamePad has proved to be one of our most popular shows on Bravo, and we are looking forward to the latest series'.
Over the past two years the GamePad has built up a loyal and diverse audience, evidenced by the astonishing amount of valuable viewer feedback it receives daily. It is produced and hosted by Britain's videogaming TV veteran, Violet Berlin, and directed by Gareth Jones, of BBC's "Tomorrow's World" and ITV's "How2".
Violet Berlin and Gareth Jones are also joint managing directors of WhizzBang TV. Technology writers and presenters of longstanding, their unique approach to video games television is to treat it as factual entertainment, so that the appeal is to a wider and older audience than traditional video games shows.
Bravo is a UK cable/satellite channel broadcasting daily from 9am to 3am. It occupies a unique position in British television, providing an eclectic mix of content ranging from classic retro drama to cutting edge factual programming. Bravo's core viewer profile of 16-34 year old males is largely reflected in the audience of GamePad.
