1C and LifeMode Interactive sign second licensing agreement
Thursday, September 25th, 2003
Following both companies recent participation at London’s ECTS show, 1C and LifeMode have agreed a second licensing contract to use LifeStudio:HEAD SDK. 1C, who are Russia’s leading game and software publisher, believes that signing this agreement is a logical development of the collaboration between the two companies.
LifeStudio:HEAD SDK is a high tech software developer kit that allows 3D artists to create next generation games characters, that combine automated lip-synch with nonlinear facial animation in real-time. Due to its sophisticated technology it is possible to overlay lip-synch with different emotions depending of AI commands in the game run-time, exchange of animations between different head models, use semi-transparent and dynamic textures, and automatically change level details of models.
Speaking on agreement, Yuri Miroshnikov, 1C’s Head of Games and Multimedia Division said; "We consider that many parameters of LifeStudio:HEAD technology exceed analogues of other similar products. Due to this technology we’re planning to improve quality of our products and at the same time optimize expenses, paying maximum attention to in-game content development".
Alan Gassanov, VP of marketing LifeMode Interactive, reaffirms; "We are happy to continue and consolidate our collaboration with 1C".
1С, the largest games publisher and developer in Russia now sees the licensing of the second LifeStudio:HEAD SDK as an important step for increasing quality for upcoming games using highly dynamic facial animation. The company hopes to develop productive and long-term collaboration with LifeMode Interactive.
LifeStudio:HEAD SDK is currently being used in two projects; the development of Gaijin Entertainment’s 3D-action title “Bummer”, which is expected to be released this autumn/fall, and shortly in a new RPG project that will be shortly announced.
