The Xbox has it all in the driving genre. Even though the Xbox doesn't have a racer that beats the daddy of racing, GT3 on Sony's Playstation 2, it's still filled with loads of
awesome games like Sega GT, RalliSport Challenge, Midnight Club, & the uber cool MotoGP series. I wouldn't mind getting a game that's superior than GT3 though, and ALSO Xbox LIVE! enabled to provide the ultimate racing experience and an upper hand over Polyphony Digital's monster.
Ladies & Gentleman, we present to you, Sega GT Online. A blend of deep simulation detail and high-octane arcade action, Sega GT Online challenges gamers to qualify for licenses, compete in a series of increasingly competitive races and earn money to soup up their rides and buy newer, more powerful cars. The new offline mode challenges you to complete multiple tasks to unlock new cars, parts, and tracks. My favorite part about this game is Sega GT Online will allow up to six gamers to put their cars - and their skills - to the ultimate test against thousands of gamers from around the country. Gamers will be able to transfer their "Sega GT 2002" save data and blow the doors off the competition online with their high-powered customized cars/ Sega GT Online will feature more than 160 of the hottest street machines ever - from vintage roadsters from the 50s, 60s and 70s to the latest prototypes from more than 20 of the world's biggest manufacturers. "Sega GT Online" has the depth to satisfy even the most discerning gearhead. Sega GT Online will also feature new tracks, weather effects, and special time-triggered events. So far, the graphics still don't beat GT3. Actually, to be more specific, I don't like the car models very much. Not only is the polygon count low, it's an aliasing nightmare. The enviroments themselves look snazzy. Unlike GT3, the enviroments are very nice looking with high resolution textures.
On Xbox LIVE!, not only can you race, but you get the option to trade or bet your hard-earned cars and parts with other gamers before hitting more than a dozen devious, high-speed raceways. Of course, you can also talk trash as you decide to take turns at 180 miles per hour with Xbox Live's voice chat capabilities via the Communicator.
"Sega GT Online" is in development by WOW Entertainment and is slated for release in the U.S. in Fall 2003.
