Batman Begins Review

Batman Begins

Game Info
In Batman Begins, you play as a young Bruce Wayne. Angered by the death of his parents, Wayne goes on a journey to become the man he was meant to be. Following this sort of story the game presents it in a different way. In order for you to understand this game completely (which is hard), you’ll need to watch the film first. Everything in this game is shown in a random fashion.

Viewing the presentation of this film, you could easily tell Eurocom didn’t take their time. Perhaps in a big rush bringing the game just in the time for the release of the film. Batman Begins indeed isn’t a good game.

You’re first driven into immediate gameplay than after you’re
taken into training. If you’d like to know what kind of game Batman Begins is, it’s a pure stealth/action game. In order for you to get past number of enemies, it needs to be completed in a invincible way. The basic aspect of this game is going past enemies using stealth and attacking their weakness. If you enjoy using stealth to a maximum ability being not notified then Batman is the game for you.

Batman Begins has a short story mode. Taking you through scenes which we’re shown in the movie. Although all scenes are not matched with the film. There are also scenes which don’t come close to what was shown in the film. This could be something great for fans of Batman who haven’t viewed the film. It also could be bad because there are story elements being revealed right before your eyes.

Having a short arsenal of weapons and greatly relying on stealth and a lack of acrobatic maneuvers. Batman supplies you with a short arsenal of gear. You are supplied with smoke bombs, flash bangs and more types of items used to defeat enemies faster. As well as the batarang which is used mainly to throw at objects which tend to put your reputation meter up so the enemies with weapons will drop them. You also have the grapple gun, giving you the advantage to glide to areas unable to in foot.

In actual combat Batman isn't that bad. Only having a small number of attacks. Batman can only punch, kick and use a multi-attack (consists of different punches and kicks combined). The multi-attack combat in Batman at first was not bad. Later in the game repeating the same moves over and over made the game very repetitive. There is also a counter attack move, when enemies attack you, there are times which you're capable of countering their attacks. Although, when your blocking your capable of rolling around enemies. One thing Eurocom could've done more often is allow players to throw smoke bombs making the enemies completely neutralized before you get into combat. As well as throw the smoke bomb to disappear (using grapple gun) making your reputation meter higher. When your truly able to use stealth to the maximum level is when your capable of sneaking up to foes and interrogating them without being noticed.

Your given the ability to ride the batmobile. Usually going super fast (by driving by these blue objects) you can crash severely into police officers depending on how fast your driving you‘ll be rewarded with a good crashing scene of the enemies vehicle being destroyed. You can also use rocket launchers to take down larger vehicles.

A graphical glitch that was noticed by many people earlier when Batman Begins was in the works. Now by my understandings has vanished. I was unable to spot the cape going through Batman. One nice aspect in the game is using your cape to glide down areas. Which is nice when trying to get to other areas besides using your grapple gun.

When your unable to get through a door that’s locked your able to use a lock pick which happens to be a nice addition to the mini games in Begins. Another nice addition which doesn’t come very often, is hacking into machines letting you scare your enemies by many ways and at times creates opportunities to escape.

Visually Batman Begins is actually a decent looking game. All enemies are very well detailed. Due to the early look in the game I was expecting a lot better visuals in the game. Environmentally, Begins does succeed very well containing a decent framerate.

Eurocom also got the full cast to lend their voices for the game. So expect some original lines from Scarecrow (Cilian Murphy) and some mean grudged lines from Batman (Christian Bale) as well as Katie Holmes, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Ken Watanbe. Besides the movie-game voice acting being not well done. Begins does succeed in sound but voice acting sounded really unrealistic. It made me very difficult to believe the scenes that they were going through (some harsh) and the voices made it sound like nothing was wrong at times.

When completing the pure incompetence of Batman Begins, Eurocom did successfully make a video game that a large audience of people would not pay attention to at all. If they continue making a Batman game, Eurocom need to spend more time and create a story beyond one seen on films and use the type of gameplay introduced in ‘Batman Vengeance’ although improving on that aspect. With what in the end will truly be a ‘Batman game’. Although in this attempt Eurocom has not failed.
