Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding Review

Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding

Game Info
Snowboarders unite! It is now time to take that stale SSX series out of your console and back in it's case, Amped is here! With over 1000 tricks to pull off of 1500 jumps and rails, You will keep coming back. However, I warn you not to take the same mistake I made, this game is strictly freestyle, (as in the name) there is no racing what-so-ever in this game. Don't worry, the game made up for that! With approximately 13 resorts, you will keep coming back again and again!

This game exceeds all other games in one way, fun factor. Before i continue, I must point out that this is not your typical SSX game, it is more realistic. If you want high flyin', death defyin' tricks and jumps, this is not for you. However, it's realism definately contributes to it's fun factor. When I first popped this game in, I went down the mountain once and fell every ten feet of the way. Yes, the controls are that hard to get used to, but once you got it, you got it! It has a nice way of executing grabs, you use the right thumbstick to grab, and the L and R trigger buttons to tweak. So, you think you got the hang of it? guess again! this game is fairly simple in the beginning. However, it will only get harder. This game WILL make you "cheesed off." it is a difficult challenge that nobody should pass up.

The graphics of this game are astounding for this genre of game. Every person seems to be put together flawlessly. The mountain environment will amaze you. The snowflakes falling from the sky look like actual snowflakes. The cliffs and ridges look like actual cliffs and ridges. One thing I noticed is how the jumps are not solid, they are often times tilted, or broken on one side to support the realism, BRAVO!!! The rails are nicely put together with being able to see a tiny glare from sunlight, and seeing distinctive edges on them.

In my opinion, this is the part of the game that really shines! With music ranging in all genres, you will never get bored or here the same song twice. It has a nice extensive selection of tunes to choose from, however I didn't find anything that suited me. Have no fear! This game fully utilizes the XBOX's abilty to rip your own track to jam out to. Not much to say about the sound effects, they are frequently drowned out by the music.

After first starting your career, you will not stop! The road to number one is definately not for the faint of heart (or the short tempered!) I can guaranty you that you will be playing this for a LONG time. Along with any extreme sports title, you will play this game after you beat it.

Final Recomendation I suggest you buy this game. Usually, I would say to rent first, but how could you give this up? And at the low Platinum Hits price, it is just more persuading for you to make the purchase
