The long awaited Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is finally here for the Xbox video game console! This is the best THPS game yet in the series. Read on to find out why!
The game itself is close to the previous games in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. If you already haven't played the earlier games, THPS3 is a skate boarding game. Doing different tricks gives you points. You can do grinds, high flying tricks as you go up on the vert, board tricks on the ground, and special tricks that are pretty hard to pull off. In the game, there will be many goals you'll have to accomplish such as getting a certain trick score, pulling of a special trick, or collecting items in the map. In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 you can choose from Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifberg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Magera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer and Jamie Thomas. There are many modes such as training, quick skate, two player, and the amazing & excitable Career mode in which you accomplish different goals to unlock skaters and maps. After you finish the goals you can also unlock features such as skateboards, and even editing your player's stats.
The graphics engine is just remarkable. The maps in which you skate are HUGE. There's also some nice reflection in one of the maps. Unlike the PS2 version, the Xbox version runs at a very smooth framerate. A cool aspect of the game are the falls. Sometimes you'll see your skater go crashing down so bad that you'll literally say, "ouch!". Another cool thing is that you could also change the appearance of your player. You can choose from different hats, caps, shirts, t-shirts, shoes, even socks. Did I even mention the sunglasses? That never gets boring.
You could listen to songs from Heavy Metal to Rap. An amazing feature especially when your paying attention to the game and listening to the music for concentration. Again a very detailed track feature, able to choose from about 30 songs.
The grinding sounds so real. When your landing from a trick it also sounds real, can this get even better? Also, the falls have the players voice doing this realistic scream. Unfortunately, each character sounds the same.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 is an remarkable game. At times, the goals can be a bit hard, but practice makes perfect. If your a fan of the previous two Tony Hawk games, then you defintely need get this one.
