Hunter the Reckoning: Redeemer Review

Hunter the Reckoning: Redeemer

Game Info
Hunter The Reckoning has always been one of the better titles for the Xbox console, so upon hearing about the sequel, I was anticipating for the best of hack and slash gameplay yet. Vivendi Universal Games delivered the sequel I was hoping for, still keeping its addicting gameplay yet still including multiple improvements that all fans of the first title would greatly appreciate. I must say in my honest opinion there is no other game with co-op gameplay quite as fun and addicting as this title. Playing with up to four players a console hacking and slashing your way at thirty different types of monsters through twenty levels, it doesn't get much better than this folks. This sequel is all that and much more.

Redeemer offers a slew of improvements probably to many to list in one review but many of the notable ones are as follows. Improved graphics- the graphics are extremely improved this time around, and I was loving every bit of it. Redeemer is definitely one of the better looking titles on Microsoft's Xbox. The characters and weapons look great, but what really look awesome are the monsters and enviroments. They look incredible.

The game also features downloadable content. So far they've released one download which is a costume pack. I found this alone to be really cool for some reason. I can't wait to see what else theyll be offering later on down the road. The extra character isn't such a bad improvement either, although I really didn't enjoy using her over my old favorite character "Deuce." It still is cool to have and expirement with. The improvements in this game are plentiful, and I'm sure every person who enjoyed the first title will enjoy this one all that much more.

The gameplay in Redeemer is still just as addicting as the first title if not more. There are thirty different monsters you get to battle through in Redeemer, and personally I think the monsters are much scarier and overall alot better than the first title. The monsters include zombies, vampires and wicked scary beasts all there just for you to just hack and slash the life out of them. Imagine forty different weapons at your finger tips for you to do whatever your evil self wants to do with them. Well not really; your suppose to just shoot a bunch of monsters with them. There are forty different weapons from lethal range weapons to melee weapons! While still maintaining its addicting hack and slash gameplay, Redeemer offers a whole lot more fun than the first title.

The story line in Redeemer is compelling and matches the gameplay perfectly. Basically you are trying to stop a bunch of monsters that were created by a company known as Genefex. The monsters were being created secretly by the company by lacing their products with supernatural poison which turned the consumers of the products into the monsters which are now trying to bring destruction to the city. You're mission is to, Ashcroft. So you are hacking and slashing at these monsters while completing various mission to try and save the city Ashcroft.

The sound in Redeemer is just as it should be, which is a good thing. It features intense rock music to match the intense gameplay, which actually kind of adds to the fun of the game. I often found myself shooting or slashing to the beat of the music at times, which is quite funny but it really does make the intense gameplay even more intense. The gunshot sounds and the sounds of you hacking away at the monsters sound realistic. The sound is really top notch in this game.

So there you have it, Redeemer is right up there in the ranks with Halo, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic or any of the other top notch Xbox titles. Any one those looking for extremely addictive hack and slash gameplay, the best co-op Xbox has to offer, or just another great title to add to your games collection, look no further. This title is the perfect title for any Xbox gamer. My final verdict is, go purchase this title along with a few more controllers if you don't have four yet, and invite some friends over for a hacking and slashing good time!
